Me and Richard used to go on some fantastic holidays and when I was working in the Middle East from 1977 to 1985 I used to have two weeks holiday every three months. Especially in the summer months, we used to refer to the planned holiday in June or July or August as 'the riot' when we were exchanging letters (no computers or texting in those days) planning where we would go, stay and what we would do. I remember there were a couple of holidays in Sitges, starting in about 1980. They were extremely memorable holidays. Richard was a total sun worshipper and would just love lying on the sun lounger on the beach getting roasted to a crisp! He liked nothing better. We also travelled further afield to the US for the first time in 1979 - two weeks in New York in August 1979 and because the Village People song "YMCA" was very popular at the time, we decided to spend the entire two weeks in the YMCA in New York! It all lived up to its promise! Not content with running wild in New York we decided to go to San Francisco for two weeks in November 1979. Again, we had the most amazing time. It was so good for me (I had a holiday romance...) that I decided to stay on another week and Richard returned home to London as planned.
